Following the 890 arrests in several cities across France, the first immediate court appearances took place on Monday. In Paris, sentences were handed down for resisting arrest and violence against a police officer, carrying and possessing a weapon (mortars), and also for violent theft.
The first three sentences of the afternoon had already all been custodial sentences: twelve months imprisonment, six of which were suspended, for resisting arrest and violence against a police officer; ten months suspended for carrying and possessing a weapon (mortars); and ten months suspended for violent theft, contempt, and violence against a police officer.
